Baseball5 activity in Finland took another step forward as Finnish baseball ja softball federation organized its second Baseball5 event on April 26. The event was held at Pallomylly, where a diverse group of participants had the opportunity to try out the sport.

Puumat club teams, Hawks and Devils, took part and created an energetic and encouraging atmosphere on the field. The event was led by Tony Jones, who introduced the game in a clear and engaging way.

For many participants, this was their first experience with Baseball5—a fast-paced and accessible sport that can be played almost anywhere without the need for extensive equipment. This accessibility makes it especially appealing to newcomers.

Participants highlighted the speed of the game and its strong sense of community. Thomas described his experience: “I loved the pace of play and how quickly you can learn the game. It’s a game where anyone can play, whether you’re completely new to baseball or have played your whole life!”

Cesar also praised how smoothly the event was run: “Tony made it very approachable by setting everything up properly and explaining the rules, and then we just got started. By the end, we were getting the hang of it more, but it was fun right from the beginning. Everyone made some great plays, and of course there were also a few blunders that come with handling such a bouncy ball. All in all, great fun and fast-paced!”

The success of the event provides a strong foundation for the future. The goal is to organize another Baseball5 event this summer, and in the long term, the vision is to launch a winter league for the sport in Finland.
