Hitting

Hitting a ball thrown hard at you is difficult, but also quite fun. Some say it is the most difficult thing to do in sports. Maybe the challenge makes hitting more interesting. A baseball bat is somewhat heavy, and a strong swing doesn’t happen by itself. In addition to strength, a lot of explosiveness and practiced skill is required to swing smoothly. A good swing is a combination of fluidity and balance.

Fielding

A competitive fielder is someone who can read the incoming ball well and move to it with mobility and speed, while considering the optimal catching and throwing technique regarding the situation. To be a good fielder, like in many other things in life, you dont necessarily have to look good to do it well, it is more important to be functional and consistent.

Fielding in baseball is taught with slightly different techniques for different defensive positions, some of these below.

Pitching

The pitcher is one of the most important players on a baseball team. Without a pitcher, the game cannot be played, so practicing pitching is an important part of the sport. In addition to team practices, many pitchers also do their own individual training.

Good pitching takes time and lots of repetitions. Accuracy, speed, movement control and proper technique develop gradually through practice. Over time, every pitcher finds their own natural style.

A hard throw alone isn't enough. A good pitcher knows how to vary speed, place the ball in different spots of the strike zone and use a variety of pitches to keep the batter uncertain.

A pitcher must also take care of their body. Throwing volumes should be increased gradually, and the muscles of the shoulder and arm should be strengthened regularly. Good technique helps both with development and with preventing overuse injuries.

This page brings together videos that help you learn the basics of pitching and develop your own technique. The aim is to provide easy-to-understand material for both beginners and those who have been playing longer.
