Baseball-Puumat is Finland's most traditional baseball and softball club, based in Helsinki. The club has several teams at different levels: Puumat plays in the Superbaseball League (championship level), while Devils and Hawks compete in the Fat Lizard League (Division level). The club also has a women's softball team, Sandstorm, and a children's baseball team, Puumat Cubs.
There's room for everyone at Puumat — whether you're a beginner, recreational player, or interested in more competitive play.
Nooa Määttä and Elmo Pihkala represented Puumat in the Finnish national team at the European Championship Qualifier in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. Määttä finished among the tournament's top hitters with a .438 batting average and a .875 slugging percentage, while the young Finnish squad took clear steps forward on its road to the 2030 qualification campaign.
Baseball-Puumat has launched its own YouTube channel, offering live broadcasts and post-game highlight packages of games featuring Puumat, Hawks, Devils, and Puumat Cubs to fans across Finland and worldwide. The channel, which fills the gap for club games not shown on Ruutu+, has already gained over 100 subscribers and more than 3,600 views.
Puumat traveled to Hungary for the European Federation Cup Qualifier (1–6.6.2026), finishing the week with two victories—a 5–2 win over Bulgaria's CBS Lions NSA and a 20–7 win over Romania's Thunder Wolves. The team returned home with growing confidence and a strong belief that the gap to Europe's B-pool top teams is within reach.
Finland's baseball and softball federation held its second Baseball5 event on April 26 at Pallomylly, drawing a diverse group of participants who tried the fast-paced, accessible sport. Led by Tony Jones with the Hawks and Devils taking part, the successful event lays the groundwork for another gathering this summer and a longer-term vision of a winter league in Finland.
